The Suva are a race of creatures who dwell in remote regions of the Realm. They are a generally reclusive race, finding little that they need that their forested homes do not provide. They are hunters and predators, and great status is attributed to the mightiest. It is the drive to seek more challenging game that often will compel one of the Suva to leave their homes and seek adventure in the wider world.
The Suva are humanoid creatures that bear a superficial resemblance to griffins, possessing both avian and leonine traits. Their head are raptor like, with curving beaks and large eyes. They are lithe and muscular, typically standing nearly 5ft tall and weighing about 120lbs, their powerful builds offset by their hollow bones. They possess wings that enable them to glide from treetop to treetop. Their hide is furred along the lower extremities and feathered along the upper limbs, back, and head. Coloration varies by pride and family group. The prides native to the Curtain Jungle are brightly colored in the fashion of jungle birds, the prides native to the Dragonwood are dark feathered, while the Rhan Plains dwelling prides and typically shades of brown and gold. Regardless of pride, most Suva take a great pride (to the point of vanity) in their looks.
The Suva are proud and competitive. Those who know of them note a prickly character that is often quick to take offense and slow to forgive. Theirs is a martial culture, and respect is given based on physical prowess and reputation. While they respect the power of magic, they consider it “cheating”. Despite this attitude, the race boasts a proportionally large number of spellcasters (mostly are sorcerers, druids, or witches), who frequently have to work harder to earn the same respect that a warrior of similar accomplishment would.
The Suva live within large tribal groups known as “prides”. Within their domains, they are fiercely territorial, only trading with outsiders in the leanest of times. To the other races, they are considered unfriendly and enigmatic.
Alignment & Religion
The Suva favor neutrality, with a great sense of honor and tradition balanced by fiery, passionate emotions. Suva are good, evil, and neutral in almost even distribution. They revere the spirits of nature and worship the sky as a god.
The Suva are warriors and hunters before all else, and most are Barbarians, Fighters, and Rangers. Sorcerers are the most common spellcasters, with most having the Elemental (Air) bloodline.
