The Rajul-Hain are a race of creatures that could be described as “living constructs”. Among those who know of them, they are refered to as “The Remaining”.Fashioned by the race known only as the Eldest during the height of their power, they served as guardians and servants. As the power of the Eldest waned, they retreated from the affairs of the world, leaving their charges to fend for themselves. Most of the Rajul-Hain went into a deep slumber, awaiting commands that might never arrive, while others sought to explore the wider world. Despite being ageless creatures, time and tragedy have winnowed their numbers . Every 10 years, the remaining Rajul-Hain gather to share information at a meeting they refer to as a “Census”. During the last census 2 years ago, only 501 Rajul-Hain remained.
The Rajul-Hain are humanoid creatures made from wooden plant matter and a crystalline mineral resembling quartz. Rather than muscle and skin, the majority of a Rajul-Hain’s body mass are coiled tendrils and rugged plates of living plant fiber. Crystalline nodes provide structure and serve as vital organs (including eyes and teeth). Their most important organ is a structure known as the Heart Shard, which is the focus and source of an individuals life force, typically located mid-torso.
They are granted many strengths from their construct form, and are greatly resistant or entirely immune to many of the frailties of natural born creatures. Despite this, a Rajul-Hain bleeds when injured ( a translucent, oily fluid), can be poisoned, and experiences emotional highs and lows much the same as any other creature. The majority are somewhat taller and significantly denser than humans, with a subset of their numbers (roughly 20% ) being slightly larger than halflings. Their coloration ranges from ash pale to mahogany dark for their plantlike elements, and an entire spectrum of colors and clarity for their more crystalline elements. They are a genderless race, and have no natural means of reproduction. Indeed, none of the remaining Rajul-Hain retain the secrets of their creation, and have become a dying race as a result.
The Rajul-Hain are close knit by necessity. Even over large amounts of time and distance, most will try to arrive for Census, and they actively follow rumors and hearsay about other Remaining. They are an intelligent, disciplined, and orderly race. Most occupy their hours practicing their chosen vocation, and many cultivate a wide reaching and eclectic number of skills and interests.
Rajul-Hain are a rare and largely unknown race. When traveling, many will disguise themselves to avoid drawing unwanted attention. Even if revealed, most observers will assume they are clever but ultimately mindless constructs. More educated people may have heard rumors or read documentation, but have little concrete information about The Remaining.
Alignment & Religion
The Remaining are primarily neutral with a strong bias towards lawfulness as well. When traveling abroad they are shaped largely by experience, and good and evil are also well represented among their number. It is uncommon for a Rajul-Hain to be chaotic, and those who are, are often thought of as “defective” by their peers.
Surprisingly, The Remaining take well to spiritual and philosophical callings. Most them them follow a system of beliefs they refer to as “The Orthodoxy”. This belief system calls for logical, rational thought, commitment to the Rajul-Hain race, and strict control over their emotions.
The Remaining are talented, and can excel at most classes, but favor classes that cater to their natural advantages (such as fighter or wizard).
+ 2 Constitution, + 2 Intelligence, –2 Charisma; The Rajul-Hain are durable and highly intelligent, but lack both social finesse and a fair amount of empathy.

This process requires 1 hour of work and restores a number of hit points equal to (Con bonus + Level). The Remaining can make this check untrained and suffers no penalty for not having the proper tools.
